“Joined Up” Training Enters The Extractives World…..

Wednesday, July 4th, 2007

EMP Awarding Body is pleased to announce the launch of its accreditation scheme for training programmes within the Extractives and Minerals Processing industries. This scheme was formerly run by Epic Training and Consulting Ltd.
This scheme has been specially devised to ensure that the Extractive and Mineral Processing industry has access to the highest quality training programmes which meet all of its requirements. It also ensures that “joined-up” training within a company can take place by carefully matching the training provided (where applicable) to the needs of the employees who may also be working towards some of the NVQs which the industry has devised to help it meet its health and safety targets.
The accreditation criteria ensure that the training programme is:
• Relevant to the industry requirements
• Quality assured for both the training and any assessment which takes place
This scheme will give buyers of training the confidence that an external, government recognised body has assessed the training programme against strict criteria and conducts regular sampling to ensure the criteria are consistently being met.
Providers of training programmes using this scheme will have the added advantage of independent assessment against high quality benchmarks for the training, plus the opportunity to offer clients considerable added value, over and above just the training programme, by showing how the programme matches to National Occupational Standards for the industry.
The scheme is open to both external training providers of any size and to in-company training schemes.
