Coal International Plc announce operations update for the quarter ended 30 June 2007:
• Commencement of production at Maple Coal in its underground No. 1 Eagle mine, on schedule
• Completed renovation of the shuttered Katie Preparation plant at Maple Coal on schedule and on budget
• Placing raised approximately £8.5 million before expenses
• $7 million equipment financing with CIT Finance completed
• Second D-11 dozer added to the Crooked Run surface mine to enhance efficiency of overburden removal
• Upgraded loader at Crooked Run has enhanced loading capacity and increased the percentage of coal that can be direct shipped
• Gauley Eagle preparation plant surpassed million ton processed milestone
• Coal sales agreements negotiated for all uncommitted Gauley Eagle production for the balance of calendar year 2007 and calendar year 2008

Durand Eppler, CEO of Coal International commented, “We are pleased with the progress that has been made this quarter; especially with respect to the commencement of production at our second mine, Maple Coal. We believe that this is a significant milestone for the Company and shows that we can meet our operational targets and places us as a strong position to take advantage of the positive commodity outlook. The recent placing will allow us to continue to increase production levels going forward and will help facilitate the quantity of coal that can be directly shipped.
This quarter marks an important stage in the development of Coal International’s operations as it commenced production at the Maple Coal No. 1 Eagle metallurgical coal mine as well as continuing to increase production at its Gauley Eagle property. Coal International raised £8.5 million before expenses through a placing as well as $7 million in equipment financing from CIT Finance.
Coal International conducts its US mining operations through Atlantic Development and Capital (“ADC”). ADC has three wholly owned operating subsidiaries, Atlantic Leaseco, which operates the Gauley Eagle property, Maple Coal Company which operates the Powellton property and Deepgreen West Virginia which operates the Pageton coal recovery operation.
