So says Sean Isherwood, Cheetham Hill’s Plant Director as the company takes delivery of a range of Volvo excavators and more articulated haulers for its plant fleet.
Cheetham Hill Construction Ltd of Bury Lancashire are no strangers to running Volvo articulated haulers, but this is the first time the company has taken the decision to renew part of its excavator fleet with Volvo branded machines. In all, CHC has taken delivery of five, twenty one tonne EC210C’s; an EC360B, EC460B and the seventy tonne EC700BLC together with four A30D articulated haulers. “It has taken us a while to opt for an alternative make, but we have seen significant improvements in the specification and general robustness with the Volvo excavators since the initial acquisition of Samsung. In our opinion the current range of machines has matured into strong and reliable products,” comments Mr Isherwood. “We were particularly impressed with the seventy tonne machine in terms of fuel consumption, breakout force and cycle times.”
The recent arrivals will be deployed on Cheetham Hill Construction projects stretching from Scotland to the north of England and Midlands working for the construction arm of the business which typically undertakes land reclamation, landfill, utilities pipeline work and groundworks as well as CHC’s general plant hire division. Cheetham Hill now run thirty six Volvo excavators and dumptrucks in a fleet totalling ninety pieces of mobile plant.
The latest machines have been supplied with full repair and maintenance contracts along with the ‘Caretrack Advanced’ monitoring system giving CHC the peace of mind that Volvo to take best possible care of its investment carrying out regular scheduled maintenance using genuine Volvo parts and lubricants. “Again we have been impressed by the way Volvo Construction Equipment embraces us, to work through any issues. They nurture a positive working relationship with us on both sales and after sales service,“ continues Sean Isherwood. “When we’ve needed it we find that Volvo CE has a “can do attitude” to any opportunity and that means a great deal to us.”
“In a nutshell we view Volvo excavators to be competitively packaged without compromising on quality. Both our operators and our customers appreciate the productivity and comfort so we are pleased in our decision to introduce the Volvo brand into our fleet,” concludes Mr Isherwood. He is looking forward to the prospect of high residual values when the new arrivals come up for replacement in three years time.
