World premiere of IMAGER 5006EX – First ever explosion-proof 3D laser scanner
Friday, September 21st, 2007
DMT GmbH, the high-tech service company based in Essen, and Zoller + Fröhlich GmbH, based in Wangen, are together developing a 3D laser scanner – the IMAGER 5006EX – which can be used safely in explosive environments. This will enable for the very first time 3D laser scanner measurements to be carried out safely in potentially explosive environments, for instance in the mining and chemical industry.
The performance characteristics of the new IMAGER 5006EX are modelled on those of the successful IMAGER 5006 manufactured by Zoller + Fröhlich. A major application of the laser scanner will be in the monitoring and evaluation of existing structures and construction projects, for example by measuring data in pipeline systems it will be possible to detect all places which are damaged.
This unique system will be presented at the INTERGEO 2007 in Leipzig (25 to 27 Sept) and the ISM 2007 in Budapest (24 to 28 Sept). The first prototypes will be produced this year.
It is expected that the first production models will be available sometime in the second half of 2008.
