Tuesday, November 6th, 2007
ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, announce that it has won an order with a value of over $14 Million from Osisko Exploration Ltd, Canada. The order comprises a complete 19MW gearless mill drive system and will be delivered for the Canadian Malartic Project, where it will be installed in a 38 feet semiautogenous mill.
The Malartic gold deposit is located in the heart of Quebec’s prolific Abitibi Gold Belt, immediately south of the town of Malartic.
The contract includes material delivery, which will take place at the end of 2008, as well as engineering. The GMD system comprises ringmotor, transformers, E-house as well as the new powerful ABB cyclo converter controller AC 800PEC. In Q3 of 2009 the gearless mill drives will be ready for operation.
ABB won the project because it was able to offer a well known and approved technology. ABB has delivered two 15MW GMD systems to Newcrest’s Telfer gold mine in Australia as well as for Rosia Montana Gold Corporation in Romania.
