Friday, November 30th, 2007

His Royal Highness, the Duke of Wessex has visited Extec Screens & Crushers Ltd to mark the company’s second Queen’s Award for Export in just three years. HRH Prince Edward also took the opportunity to unveil a plaque at the company’s Swadlincote headquarters to commemorate his visit.
Extec Screens & Crushers Ltd, a member of the Sandvik Group of Companies, has celebrated its second Queen’s Award for Export in three years by hosting a visit by His Royal Highness, the Duke of Wessex.
Export Growth
HRH Prince Edward’s visit to the company’s head office and manufacturing headquarters in Swadlincote, Derbyshire commemorated another significant year of export growth for Extec. The company’s products are sold throughout the world with primary export markets in Germany, USA, Russia, India, Australia and Latin America. In fact, Extec screens and crushers are found in practically every corner of the globe with recent sales being secured in places as far afield Tahiti, China and Latvia. This fact was recognised previously in 2005 when the company received its first Queen’s Award for Export, and again in 2007.
Significant Investment
Extec currently employs over five hundred people worldwide, with manufacturing undertaken in two bespoke factories in Northern Ireland and at Swadlincote in the UK. The Swadlincote facility has recently been the subject of significant investment and redevelopment including the creation of a 500,000ft² of state of the art production area. Finance director Andrew McManus believes that these first class production facilities, coupled with the company’s ongoing investment in people, are key elements in Extec’s continued success. “Through massive investment in the manufacturing facility and use of the latest technology, we have increased production to satisfy demand in both local and overseas markets, whilst maintaining our reputation for our responsive, reliable aftersales service,” says McManus. “We are delighted to have our export achievements recognised in this way for a second time, and I would personally like to thank the Extec employees around the world that have made this possible.”
