Belt Systems Facility Celebrates 1st Anniversary

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

One year ago, May 15, 2008, marked the first day of operations for the Belt Systems Divisions Pearisburg, Virginia facility. Prior to this opening, Belt Terminal Group products did not have a dedicated production site. In the past, Terminal Group components were produced at various different Bucyrus operations and were assembled as fill-in work for shop capacity. Due to continuous growth and increased demand in the market, the Belt Systems Division was able to justify opening a facility dedicated solely to this product line.
The success of the newly established facility has attracted the attention of many customers in the industry. Onsite customer visits and training sessions for Bucyrus personnel are frequently being set up.
An added benefit seen by both Bucyrus and its customers is that the Belt Systems Division is now involved in the complete production of Terminal Groups from start to finish at one harmonized location. Continuous improvements have been a part of the culture since day one and many improvements have been made to the operations.
When asked to describe the working environment at the Pearisburg Operation, Ken Stinson, Plant Manager, was quick to highlight the strengths of the staff emphasizing the open communication between employees, the team player mentality that is demonstrated daily and the overall positive attitude of his co-workers. As an appreciation to all the hard work and dedication put forth by staff over the past year, a celebration cookout was scheduled for the afternoon. During this time, management will have presented a brief speech on operational accomplishments for the year as well as discuss what is in store for the upcoming months. Please join in on congratulating the Pearisburg Team on reaching their one year mark and on an outstanding first year!
