Raymond Brown Group Purchase Breaks Six Year Drought For Finning

Friday, June 26th, 2009

For independent family run Raymond Brown Group, the purchase of two new Cat D6T LGP Dozers with service agreements from Caterpillar dealer Finning, marks a major move away from the use of competitor machinery in its environmental construction and mineral and recycling divisions.
With a 70 million pound turnover, managed out of its Hampshire based head office, the groups interest also include civil engineering & building but it is its environmental construction & mineral and recycling divisions, where plant and equipment choice is most important.
Commenting on the deal with Finning, Raymond Brown Group plant director, Mark Isaac said: “In this current climate, we like any other business are looking at our plant purchases very closely, taking time to make what are important financial, operational and performance based decisions. What this means in layman’s terms, is that we have moved to a more comprehensive decision making process, where the overall cost of ownership, servicing and performance per litre of fuel, is more important than say price for example.
“What is also important to our business is the service back up and the knowledge that in the case of Finning and Caterpillar, we are dealing with businesses and global brands that are strong enough to survive through the current recession and will not compromise on service delivery.
“What really convinced me personally about making our first Finning Caterpillar purchase in more than six years, was the arguments put forward by our Finning sales representative, Darren Bodio for taking out a service package with designated SLA’s. This way as a plant director, I know that the service back up will perform to our required standards and that through Finning’s mobile engineering team, no matter where the machines are working, an engineer can be despatched to them.”
With the two machines delivered in June 2009 already put to work, split between the groups Environmental Construction division and its Southampton based Minerals and Recycling division, Raymond Brown group is taking full advantage of the Cat D6T LGP’s capabilities.
Adding to Mark’s comments on the purchase of the two Cat D6T LGP’s, Finning sales representative Darren Bodio said: “It is great to see a company like the Raymond Brown Group coming back to Finning Caterpillar after such a long period of absence, particularly for such a significant deal. I am particularly impressed with the approach that Mark and his team have taken to come to the decision to purchase the Cat D6T’s as I believe securing best value, performance and service support is fundamentally what every plant purchasing decision should be based on.”
