New National Awards for OTR

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Leading earthmover tyre specialists OTR Tyres Ltd have achieved ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 after recent audits.
The ISO accreditation has been awarded after independent assessors found that the company’s Environmental Management System was compliant with the requirements of ISO 14001:2004, for the supply, repair and retreading of earthmover vehicle tyres and services associated with the maintenance, removal and replacement of tyres.
OTR’s Health, Safety and Training Manager, Colin Marshall said: “We had to look seriously at all environmental aspects and impacts, including factory emissions, service vehicles, segregation of waste and much more. The accreditation is just part of our policy of continuous improvement in environmental standards”.
All OTR staff have undergone ISO training, to ensure that the standards set by the company continue to be maintained in all areas of operation.
OHSAS 18001:2007 is the Occupational Health and Safety management standard that OTR have also recently achieved. This recognition refers to the company’s core activities – ‘supply, repair and retreading of earthmover vehicle tyres and services associated with maintenance, removal and replacement of tyres,’ and involved the preparation of a legislation register, risk assessments, safety training and safety audits.
“We have been developing standards internally for some time now, something that both we as a company and our customers have been demanding. External recognition is the culmination of that effort,” concluded Colin.
With managed systems now in place, OTR are looking to develop the same standards at their operations globally.
