JOD Haulage enhances their full service offering to the construction industry with the latest in mobile crushing and screening

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Jim O’Doherty formed the company JOD Haulage in 1987: beginning operation as a single owner driver, he saw a niche in the market to provide a highly skilled service to the building and construction Industry. Today Jim has developed his business based on a reputation of total reliability, and quality of service.
JOD Haulage has now developed from a one man operation into a large organisation that provides recycling, demolition, haulage, skip hire and the provision of quality recycled aggregates. These services all require careful management skills, but the core ethos of the company is still the same – a total commitment to quality service for all clients. Two decades on since the forming of the company Jim’s insight and vision, combined with his determination, is still paying off as the company continues to grow. It is through Jim’s commitment to developing and maintaining the highest standards of customer and environmental care, wherever possible preventing site contamination, that has allowed JOD Haulage to provide a service second to none, but also be very proud to be committed to walking the green line.
Due to the continuing success of the company in January 2007 the J. O’Doherty Group of Companies were proud to announce that Embassy Demolition Contractors Limited had joined the group. With both companies combined, the group is now able to provide an enhanced service that is both competitive and efficient. As JOD Haulage has grown and developed so have the demands of the construction industry. These demands for very high standards on site have allowed the company to be ideally suited to deliver the best in bulk excavation, site clearance, waste management, demolition, recycling, haulage and providing construction materials on demand. As plant hire is also another vital aspect of the company, quite often part of JOD Haulage’s large fleet work in partnership with many of their clients, who now see them an integral part of their own business.
Communication has proved to be a vital aspect of JOD Haulage’s business. All of their vehicles are now fitted with the latest radio controlled tracking system, ensuring contact with any of the vehicles at any given time on or off site. Health and safety have gone hand in hand with communication and the company now boasts an excellent health and safety record, employing industry leading experts to assist in the development of their integrative health and safety policy. This policy is constantly reviewed and revised as new legislation dictates, placing a priority on the welfare of their employees, as well as the sites on which they operate.
Due to recent growth in the business JOD Haulage has recently invested in new crushing and screening equipment. The new equipment has been purchased to take advantage of Embassy Demolition Contractors joining the JOD group of companies, and the provision of an enhanced full service offering. Given JOD Haulage’s commitment to the environment, health and safety, and quality of service, it is no surprise that when they updated the mobile screeners and crushers they chose Sandvik.
The crushers and screens recently acquired are two QJ340s (formerly Extec C12+) and two QE140s (formerly Extec Robotrac). Both machines are perfect for the demolition and recycling industry and are seen as the ideal fit for JOD Haulage’s business. Sandvik offers a wide range of light, medium and heavy mobile crushing, screening and scalping solutions for quarrying, recycling, demolition, contracting and mining applications. Their mobile units meet the very highest specifications for mobility, both on site and on road transportation. Fully tracked, they are compact, highly productive and offer the very highest levels of performance – either as standalone units or in conjunction with other members of the range.
The QJ340 utilises Sandvik’s unrivalled design and manufacturing expertise to build upon the success of the world’s best selling track-mounted mobile jaw crusher, the C12+. Durability and reliability are ensured by a reverse crushing action capability to relieve blockages, and by an automatic jaw lubrication system that is fitted as standard. On the job versatility is assured by a comprehensive range of optional extras that allows the QJ340 to be modified to match precisely the demands of any specific application.
The QE140 represents the definitive track mounted scalping screen, which also employs such a highly efficient screening process it doubles as a grading screen in many applications. The unique mobility of the QE140 enables the operator to manoeuvre the unit to any position from an excavator, or loader, enabling speedy screening and stockpiling on a planned route. Designed to scalp the heaviest of material, yet its ability to screen finer sizes is phenomenal for a scalper. Its sheer maneuverability on the ledge of a mountain quarry, or on the demolition site of a Tokyo skyscraper, has earned it the reputation of being one of the world’s most versatile screens in terms of production and mobility.
The four machines will allow JOD Haulage to produce quality aggregate products from recycled materials. Much of the material will come from the projects they work on, and will include:
All four machines were delivered on the 9th March replacing the existing Extec machines that have given years of excellent service. Jim O’Doherty stated – “we got great service from the Extec C12+’s and Robotrac’s, and the new Sandvik machines are part of our continuing development to offer the very best service to our clients. Sandvik’s reputation goes without saying, and we look forward to working with Sandvik over the coming years to ensure that our service gets even better”.
The years have shown that Jim O’Doherty knows his business, and he knows what he needs to ensure that his clients get the very best. By buying Sandvik crushers and screens Jim ensures that has got the very best, and his clients will benefit from his astute purchases.
