IIRSM celebrates 35th birthday by launching new scheme

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

The International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (IIRSM) celebrated its 35th birthday at Europe’s largest annual health and safety exhibition, Safety and Health Expo, 11 -13 May, Birmingham NEC. The event was marked by the launch of a new Accreditation Scheme for training providers and individual trainers and courses.
The scheme has been designed to encourage diversity and reward quality of the many courses available, or in development, which are of high quality and standard and meet the need for compliance and personal development, yet fall outside other recognised training providers.
Established health and safety consultancy and training provider; Safetyboss has become the first company to receive Centre, Course and Trainer accreditation from IIRSM following a pilot scheme with Norland. Safetyboss has worked alongside Norland; the Hard Services led facilities management company, to create a totally customised Quality Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) ‘Integrated Excellence’ training course up to Level 3 standard.
Stephen Booker, Norland Managed Services QHSE Director commented: “Exceptional QHSE management is at the core of our business. When we found that no other course available delivered a truly integrated approach to QHSE, we worked with Safetyboss to develop a unique and bespoke training course achieving the Level 3 standard. This innovative course further develops staff understanding of QHSE matters reducing risks and enhancing customer experience, whilst demonstrating our commitment to continual improvement in the critical area of QHSE risk management.”
Brian Nimick, Chief Executive, IIRSM comments: “We were delighted to be able to officially launch our new scheme and recognise both Safetyboss and Norland for their hard work at this year’s Safety and Health Expo. A lot of work has gone into creating an Accreditation Scheme which will reward training centres and give them a USP they can be proud of as well as giving peace of mind to individuals undertaking their courses.”
In parallel to this, IIRSM has also launched its Continuing Professional Development (CPD) scheme which, although not compulsory, will be available to all members online.
