Mali’s industrial gold production rose 7 percent in 2019 to a record 65.1 tons, the Ministry of Malian Mines said Wednesday. Mali has more gold resources, and data show that Mali has proven major mineral resources and their reserves: 900 tons of gold, 1.36 billion tons of iron, 1.2 billion tons of bauxite and so on.
Mamadou Sidibe, an official with the mining department, said part of the reason was the start of production at mines owned by Resolute Mining in Australia. Sidibe said that with artisanal miners estimated to add six tons of gold a year, the West African country’s total gold production could be about 71.1 tons. He said industrial production is expected to increase further in 2020, but did not provide further details.
