Hitachi Construction Machinery is developing the LANDCROS Connect Insight solution to analyse the operational data of mining machinery in near-real time.

The technology is aimed at helping customers increase the efficiency of their operations, with plans to deploy the solution through dealers to mining sites in the 2024–25 financial year (FY25).

LANDCROS Connect Insight builds on Hitachi’s 24-hour Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring of mining machinery through the ConSite Mine service, with LANDCROS delivering high-resolution data to support a more detailed analysis.

In the future, Hitachi plans to build a digital platform capable of centrally managing and interlinking mine management data across LANDCROS Connect Insight, customers, group companies and collaborating business partners.

The main features of LANDCROS Connect Insight include the ability to retrieve and view the operational status, output, fuel consumption, and location information of mining machinery and the ability to accurately assess the health status of machinery.

From June, LANDCROS Connect Insight will inherit the functions of the ConSite Mine solution to further detect abnormalities in hydraulic pumps and predict the formation of cracks in the boom and arm.

“In addition, the functions will be enhanced according to market and customer needs based on the experience and knowledge of Hitachi Construction Machinery in the mining field,” Hitachi said.

“Specifically, the company plans to extend functionality beyond machinery monitoring to include maintenance proposals based on machinery status instead of operating hours, visualisation of operator performance, and recommendations for reducing environmental impact.”
