Thiess has launched Thiess Asset Services, expanding to support mining clients with tailored, whole-of-life asset solutions.

With more than 90 years of experience operating and maintaining one of the world’s largest mining fleets, Thiess is well placed to assist clients to boost equipment efficiency, reduce downtime and increase productivity.

“We know firsthand the asset challenges our clients are facing, with pressure on reducing capital investment, increasing equipment lifecycles, a reduction in industry capability, and ongoing challenges in getting the right technical expertise,” Thiess executive chair and chief executive officer Michael Wright said.

“When overlayed with a broader expectation of reducing emissions and decarbonisation, the asset strategy and execution is absolutely critical to any mining company.”

The new arm will deliver preventative maintenance, component and machine rebuilds, carbon-fibre reinforcement repairs, fleet management, equipment hire, and energy transition services.

“We’re bringing a unique offering to market, backed by decades of experience and strategic partnerships,” Thiess executive assets and autonomy Ryan Kirkwood said.

Thiess’ ventures with Mechatronix and EACON aim to reduce costs and downtime, improve efficiency and life, and support clients’ decarbonisation goals while trialling technologies such as autonomy agnostic to any original equipment manufacturer.

With operations in seven countries and more than 50 projects, Thiess will leverage its global network of rebuild centres to offer proven alternatives for extending machine life and improving reliability.

The service also aims to deliver fleet decarbonisation solutions, including retrofittable autonomy and hybrid or dual-fuel options.

Thiess Asset Services is designed to be flexible and scalable, with solutions tailored to each site and budget.

The company is set to officially launch its new services at the Global Resources Innovation Expo (GRX25) in Brisbane.
