Weir has marked a major milestone for one of mining’s most recognisable pieces of equipment – the WARMAN AH horizontal slurry pump – which this year celebrates its 60th anniversary.

First launched in 1965, the WARMAN AH pump has become a mainstay of mine sites around the world and continues to be a benchmark for reliability and performance in slurry handling.

A global standard in slurry handling

Used across a wide range of processing applications including cyclone feed, flotation, regrind and tailings, the WARMAN AH pump has earned its reputation for durability and versatility. Its heavy-duty construction and modular design have allowed it to withstand the harshest operating environments while adapting to changing site needs.

“It’s rare for any product to remain the undisputed leader in its category for six decades, but the WARMAN AH horizontal slurry pump has done just that,” said Anastasia Zimsen, marketing manager for WARMAN Pumps.

“As the number one heavy-duty slurry pump in the world for 60 years, it continues to be the trusted choice across industries and continents. This milestone is a celebration of enduring innovation, engineering excellence, resilience and the trust we’ve earned with our customers.”

Built to last – and to evolve

According to Weir, the AH pump’s longevity is due to a commitment to continuous improvement. Over the decades, the design has evolved through rigorous testing and direct customer feedback to improve performance, wear life and energy efficiency.

“Over the years, the WARMAN AH horizontal slurry pump has undergone countless iterations, each driven by rigorous testing and direct customer feedback,” said John McNulty, vice president of global engineering and technology at Weir.

“We’ve created a configurable solution that can be tailored to meet the evolving demands of mining customers, without compromising on performance or reliability.”

Efficiency, safety and sustainability remain central to the design philosophy, with modern versions helping mine operators reduce operating costs and environmental impact while improving uptime and reliability.

A legacy of engineering excellence

From its beginnings in Australia to its adoption on mine sites across every major mining region, the WARMAN AH pump has become synonymous with tough, dependable slurry handling.

Weir said the 60-year milestone was not just a product celebration but a testament to long-term partnerships with customers who have helped shape its evolution.

“As Weir celebrates 60 years of the WARMAN AH horizontal slurry pump, we reaffirm our commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers,” the company said.
