Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Amarbayasgalan Dashzegve received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Mongolia Katie Smith on October 22, 2024.

Chairman Amarbayasgalan emphasized the recent official visit of the President of the Australian Senate Susan Lines to Mongolia is significant in expanding cooperation between the highest legislative bodies of the two countries and strengthening relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Australia in line with Mongolia’s “Third Neighbor Policy.” Mr. Amarbayasgalan expressed commitment to supporting the initiatives and policies that aim to expand bilateral relations, maintain the frequency of political discussions, and elevate the relations between the two sides. 

Ambassador Katie Smith informed the Chairman that Australia supports regional energy transition by exporting technology and experience in renewable and clean energy. Ms. Katie Smith commended that the Mongolian delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Mongolia Amarsaikhan Sainbuyan will attend the International Mining and Resources Conference to be held in Sydney, Australia, and organize a special event in mining and investments, in which she will participate and work to promote Mongolia. The Australian Ambassador expressed her intention to focus on further expanding cooperation in mining and minerals between the two countries and increasing investments. 

The two sides emphasized that Mongolia and Australia are working towards establishing intergovernmental agreements including the Agreement on Social Protection and the Agreement on Aviation Relations, which is timely and suited to the current demand as the people-to-people ties are expanding significantly in recent years.
