Liontown Resources has dispatched its first cargo of spodumene concentrate to LG Energy Solution under a long-term offtake agreement. The shipment, totalling about 33 000 wet metric tons (wmt), departed the Port of Geraldton on Wednesday.
The cargo, Liontown’s largest to date, includes 11 000 wmt designated for LG Energy Solution, with the remainder sold to a short-term customer. The shipment’s concentrate has a weighted average grade of 5.2% lithium oxide.
This marks Liontown’s fourth shipment since production commenced at the Kathleen Valley lithium operations and the first delivery under its long-term supply partnership with LG Energy Solution.
“Shipping our first cargo to LG Energy Solution marks the beginning of our long-term offtake partnership,” said Liontown MD and CEO Tony Ottaviano.
“This 33 000 wmt shipment of spodumene concentrate is our largest to date, and I’m incredibly proud of our team’s hard work and dedication. We have now shipped one cargo per month since our first cargo in September, generating revenue and demonstrating continued progress on our ramp-up toward becoming a reliable, major supplier of lithium to the global market.”
The Kathleen Valley operations remain on track as Liontown continues to scale up production and establish its position as a key supplier in the lithium-ion battery market.
