Liebherr-Australia has commissioned five PR 776 dozers for Northern Star Resources, which is around a third of the 13 new machines set to arrive.
This is the first delivery at the Super Pit gold mine in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, part of a 13-machine deal that will significantly bolster operations.
The delivery is part of a rollout that will see seven PR 776 dozers, five R 9150 excavators, and one R 9400 excavator commissioned across 2025.

Most of these machines will be deployed at the Super Pit, while three will be assigned to Northern Star’s Thunderbox operations near Leonora.
This latest partnership adds to Northern Star’s existing fleet of four Liebherr R 9400 excavators, first introduced in 2022.
“Gold mining in Western Australia is a critical part of the state’s resources sector, and Liebherr-Australia is proud to be playing a growing role in its future,” Liebherr-Australia’s executive general manager of sales, marketing, training and solutions Brian Boitano said.
“Our partnership with Northern Star Resources highlights not only our commitment to the industry but also the capability of our range of equipment.
“We’re excited to see these machines drive efficiency and increase safety and scaling in the years ahead.”
To support its growing fleet in the Goldfields, Liebherr-Australia has steadily expanded its footprint.
In 2022, the company opened its Kalgoorlie branch, bringing the state total to three.
“Our investment in the Kalgoorlie branch highlights our growing commitment to the region and to supporting the gold mining industry,” Liebherr-Australia’s operations manager for Western Australia Daniel Law-Davis said.
“The excellent service provided by our Kalgoorlie team was an important factor for our customers who choose Liebherr machines for their operations.”

Liebherr also expanded its Perth facility in 2022, transforming it into a central hub for zero-emission and autonomous technology.
“To accommodate our growing presence in Western Australia and the ramping up of production happening in the state, we are set to double our operations,” Davis said. “Both in terms of our physical footprint and our workforce – in Perth by 2030.”
