Caterpillar has expanded its renowned wheel loader line-up with the launch of the new Cat 980 GC.
The Cat 980 GC wheel loader is designed to be easy to own and simple to operate, making it the right economic choice for a wide range of applications.
The machine features a user-friendly interface, intuitive controls and exceptional visibility, supporting efficient use even by less experienced operators.
“We’ve built the new 980 GC on a long legacy of high performance and highly reliable wheel loaders with proven components and integrated Cat machine systems,” Caterpillar global product application specialist Frank Stadelmann said.
“The loader’s simple user interface, intuitive controls and excellent visibility make for comfortable and efficient operation, even with less experienced operators.
“New features to this model, like our engine idle management system, minimise idle RPM and fuel consumption to help deliver low owning and operating costs.”
The loader’s automatic planetary powershift transmission and electronic clutch pressure control system deliver smooth, reliable gear changes.
Four forward and reverse speeds offer mobility up to 39.8km per hour, while optional ride control and limited-slip differentials enhance productivity and terrain handling.
Offering bucket capacities between 4.3–5.8m³, the 980 GC uses Cat performance series buckets for fast, efficient loading with improved material retention.
The proven Z-bar linkage and load-sensing hydraulics further boost digging performance and fuel savings.
Onboard technology includes standard Cat VisionLink, which allows fleet managers to track critical loader operating parameters like machine location, hours, fuel usage, diagnostic codes and idle time to improve productivity and lower operating costs.
Inside, the cab prioritises comfort and safety with ergonomic controls, climate control, suspension seating, and excellent visibility.
The new loader features convenient service points, one-piece tilting hood with swing-out radiator, and sight gauges for quick and efficient daily maintenance.
Hard-to-reach pins have remote, conveniently grouped grease fittings for easy preventative lubrication.
