Fortescue is rolling out the largest-ever deployment of Foxtel Business iQ across its operations, connecting more than 10,000 workers at remote mining villages to live sport and entertainment.
The expanded partnership between Fortescue and Foxtel Group will see approximately 11,500 screens upgraded across 11 accommodation villages, delivering a full suite of live and on-demand content to workers in some of Australia’s most remote locations.
The multi-year agreement is aimed at enhancing worker wellbeing and improving the onsite experience, with access to a wide range of sports including AFL, NRL, cricket, Formula 1 and Supercars, alongside entertainment programming and on-demand content.
Delivered via Foxtel’s satellite network, the service will provide high-definition and 4K Ultra HD streaming capabilities, bringing an at-home viewing experience to remote FIFO environments where connectivity has traditionally been limited.

“FOXTEL and Fortescue have been in partnership for almost a decade, and we’ll continue to invest together from the outset of our long-term renewal to upgrade all living quarters and common areas across all Fortescue camps with FOXTEL’s full suite of live and streamed content through Business iQ, and develop delivery to staff’s personal devices through the FOXTEL app while at worksites,” he said.
“Fortescue’s very remote workforce will be the most connected and best entertained mining employees in Australia.”
Foxtel Business iQ is already deployed across more than 60,000 rooms nationally, offering an integrated system that combines entertainment with communications to engage and inform workers in remote settings.
The Fortescue deployment reflects a broader trend across the mining sector, where companies are investing more heavily in onsite amenities and connectivity to improve workforce retention, wellbeing and overall site experience.
