Metso has secured a repeat order worth more than €10 million ($17.7 million) to modernise a railcar dumper for a mining customer in the Asia-Pacific region.
The order, booked in Metso’s Minerals segment for the first quarter of 2026, follows an earlier dumper line upgrade currently progressing through the delivery phase.
Under the latest contract, Metso will supply a new fully assembled dumper cage along with major upgrades designed to increase throughput, improve maintainability and reduce material spillage.
Metso vice president of sales and service Kai Rönnberg said the repeat order reflected the strength of the company’s long-term relationship with the customer.
“Metso previously upgraded the customer’s first railcar dumper line and has maintained their railcar handling system for many years, so we are very pleased to be selected again to modernize their second dumper line,” Rönnberg said.
“This repeat order reflects the customer’s trust in Metso’s railcar dumping technology and our long-term partnership.”
Metso vice president of bulk material handling Sushanta Dutta said the company’s technology was designed to support safer and more sustainable mining operations.
“Metso’s solution enables customers to access leading market technology, enhance operational safety, reduce environmental impact, and benefit from best-in-class aftermarket services for their material handling equipment,” Dutta said.
“The solution supports our customer in achieving their production targets with the highest levels of reliability, ensuring long-term, sustainable performance.”
Railcar dumpers form part of Metso’s broader bulk material handling offering, supporting the efficient unloading of materials across mining operations.
The company said it has more than a century of experience in railcar dumper technology and over 8000 bulk material handling installations globally. Metso recently strengthened its bulk material handling capabilities through the acquisition of MRA Automation.
Metso also maintains a broad service footprint across the Asia Pacific region, with service centres located close to customers to provide before and after sales support throughout the lifespan of its equipment.
