Metro Mining has announced changes to its executive leadership team as it implements a new management operating system aimed at improving operational performance and reliability.

CEO and MD Simon Wensley explained on Friday that the new system would focus on integrated planning across the supply chain to support the company’s expanded operating strategy.

“As we start 2026, Metro is implementing a new management operating system focused on integrated planning across the supply chain to support increased performance and enhanced reliability of each component,” Wensley said.

He added that the approach was expected to underpin another year of record shipments and a greater than 20% reduction in free-on-board operating costs per tonne.

“To enable this, with the support of our board of directors, I have made changes to the executive leadership team, bringing in new, highly experienced leaders and changing some accountabilities with the existing team,” he said.

Metro has appointed Paul Green as executive GM operations, integrating and streamlining mine and marine operations at the Bauxite Hills project. Green has previously held senior operational roles at Rio Tinto, BHP and Idemitsu.

Troy McMillan has joined the company as GM people and culture, supporting Metro’s focus on workplace culture and employee value. He has experience in mining, alumina refining, smelting and manufacturing services.

CFO Nathan Quinlin will assume executive oversight of supply chain integrated planning, operational performance and margin optimisation, strengthening commercial discipline across the business. He will be supported by GM technical services and projects Matthew Graham and GM marine services Vincenzo de Falco.

Robin Bates will continue as general counsel and company secretary. Bates has been recognised as an Australian Governance Top 100 finalist for the past four years and as an outstanding achiever in 2024 and 2025.

Meanwhile, Norman Ting will continue to lead Metro’s China-based sales, services and logistics team, drawing on his experience in commodity and bauxite trading.

Wensley said the new leadership structure would also provide scalability as Metro looks to add further assets to its portfolio.
