Liebherr’s T 264 mining trucks are proving their reliability in one of Western Australia’s most demanding environments, with a fleet now working hard at a Thiess-operated site in the Pilbara.

The Western Australian Thiess team shared their insights in a short video, detailing that mining in the Pilbara region presents a challenging environment, with high temperatures, abrasive materials and demanding production schedules.

Thiess mining manager Kathryn Harrison said that what the team was looking for in its machinery is something that could withstand those conditions, but also the dust, the wet weather, and the hauling of dirt.

“Despite the conditions, the trucks have performed, so we can’t ask any more of the product than that,” Thiess maintenance manager Rob Sue said.

Collaboration between Thiess and Liebherr-Australia ensures fleet performance is maintained through technical support and local expertise from Liebherr-Australia’s Perth branch.

“The support from Perth has been phenomenal,” said Sue.

This partnership keeps trucks operating efficiently and reliably in one of the world’s toughest mining environments.
