Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal says the country has accumulated enough coal and gas to ensure a smooth heating season. “Gas stocks totaling 21 billion cubic meters (bcm) in underground storage facilities (USFs) are record-breaking for Ukraine. Coal reserves are also record-high over the recent years. Thermal stations and TPPs are provided with sufficient coal stocks. Therefore, we are set to smoothly pass the heating season,” he said at a government meeting on Wednesday. As of July 6, natural gas stocks in Ukraine’s USFs stood at 20.15 billion cubic meters. By the start of the 2019-2020 heating season, Ukraine had accumulated 21.76 bcm of gas in its USFs, which was a record high figure in the past decade.
