Polish mines sold 4.7 million tonnes of coal in February 2021, an increase from 4.32 million tonnes in the previous month and 4.18 million tonnes in February last year, a state agency has reported.

The data covers all Polish coal producers, the Industrial Development Agency said in its report.

Coal production also increased month on month, to 4.6 million tonnes in February 2021 from 4.44 million tonnes in January 2021. However, coal production in the same month last year was higher, reaching 4.96 tonnes.

Coal inventory decreased in February 2021 to 6 million tonnes from 6.18 million tonnes a month before and from 7.08 million in the previous year.

Prices of hard coal for the Polish power industry edged up by 0.8 percent month on month in February, while the prices of heating coal increased by 3 percent, the agency said.

Compared to the previous year, the prices went down by 3.1 and 1.7 percent, respectively.
