Toronto-listed Orvana Minerals has restarted the El Valle plant, in Spain, after stopping production last month when a failure occurred at a legacy openpit wall.

Underground mining continued operating throughout the plant stoppage, generating a stockpile that will be a metal production catch-up programme, during the months ahead.

“The OroValle team’s prompt reaction to this matter was instrumental to make this stoppage period operationally safe, environmentally sound, and economically brief,” said CEO Juan Gavidia.

The geotechnical failure in the legacy openpit wall sector continues under review. The company is working on a definitive long-term wall treatment.
