China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd., the country’s largest listed coal producer, reported a 5.3% year-on-year rise in saleable coal production in the full year of 2021 while its coal sales in the year also increased 8%. The company’s saleable coal production totalled 307 million tonnes (Mt) in 2021, with that in December at 29 Mt (+15.1% YoY), and coal sales came in at 482.3 Mt and that in December was 51.6 Mt (+10% YoY).
For the performance of coal transport, vessel loading volumes at Huanghua port totalled 215 Mt in 2021 (20.2 Mt in Dec, +21% YoY), a 5.5% rise year on year. Vessel loading volumes at Shenhua’s terminal at Tianjin port hit 46.4 Mt (4.5 Mt in Dec, +12.5 YoY), rising 2.2% from 2020. Shenhua also runs some coal-based power plants and coal-chemical plants. In December, the firm’s power generation totalled 18.24 TWh, up 28.6% year on year, taking the total volume to 166.45 TWh in the year, rising 22.1% from the year-ago period.
The company sold 17.18 TWh of electricity in December, up 28.9% year on year, with 2021 total volume at 156.13 TWh, up 22.3%.
