Aris Mining has announced a plant expansion at Segovia, Colombia, following a 75% increase in the operation’s mineral reserves to 1.3-million ounces.

The small-scope project will increase processing capacity by 50% to 3 000 t/d at the Maria Dama plant, using a previously purchased ball mill that is already on site.

“This creates the potential to gradually increase annual gold production from 200 000 oz to 300 000 oz, as we fill the extra capacity by increasing our mining rates,” says CEO Neil Woodyer.

A portion of this extra capacity will be allocated to Aris’ artisanal small-scale mining partners, offering processing solutions to them.

The cost for construction is estimated at $11-million, with the construction timeline forecasting completion by early 2025.
