Astral Resources has confirmed an increase in the mineral resource estimate at its second-largest gold project in Western Australia.

Astral Resources has lifted the mineral resource at its Spargoville gold project in Western Australia by 102 per cent to 281,000oz after re-estimating four of the project’s deposits using a higher gold price.

The project, which is the second-largest of Astral’s three projects, now has an estimate of 8.5 million tonnes at 1.0 grams per tonne of gold, up from 139,000oz (3.0 million tonnes at 1.4 grams per tonne) in May 2025. The indicated category, the higher-confidence part of the resource, rose 130 per cent to 186,000oz, while 95,000oz is inferred.

The increase comes after re-interpretation and re-estimation of Spiders (which combines the Redback, Huntsman, Trapdoor, Golden Orb and S5 deposits), 8500N, 5B and Eagles Nest, which together hold about 240,000oz. Other deposits, including Wattle Dam Stockwork, Hilditch, and Larkinville, were not updated and contribute a further 42,000oz to the total. The company used mining and processing unit costs for the upcoming definitive feasibility study at the Mandilla gold project.

“These include a conservative gold price assumption of A$4500/oz, which shows that the financial metrics that underpin the resource are very robust,” Astral Resources managing director Marc Ducler said.

The update follows Astral’s 2025 acquisition of Maximus Resources, which brought Spargoville into its portfolio. The project is about 70km south of Kalgoorlie and 25km south-west of Kambalda, adjoining Astral’s flagship Mandilla project, and has no ore reserve yet. Including Mandilla’s 1.74 million ounces and Feysville’s 196,000oz, the group resource is now 2.21 million ounces.

“The result is a pleasing 102 per cent increase in the contained gold, which we believe is a strong validation of the future growth potential of these assets,” Ducler said.

“Part of the motivation for completing this re-optimisation was to help us refine upcoming drilling programs to target further growth.”

“Only a modest 16,000 metres of drilling has been completed at Spargoville since acquiring Maximus Resources, and we are very excited to be back drilling at the Spiders deposit in the current December quarter.”
