Brightstar Resources has nearly doubled the mineral resource estimate at its Two Mile Hill-Shillington deposit in Western Australia, lifting the resource to 1.45 million ounces of gold as it advances mining studies at the Sandstone gold project.
The updated Two Mile Hill-Shillington mineral resource estimate (MRE) now totals 24.6 million tonnes (Mt) at 1.8 grams per tonne (g/t) gold for 1.45 million ounces, representing a 98 per cent increase from the previous 731,000-ounce resource.
The indicated resource component has increased 177 per cent to 526,000 ounces at 1.6g/t gold.
Brightstar said the update added about 700,000 ounces at a discovery cost of $6 per ounce, with the increased resource driven by infill and extensional drilling targeting the deeper and wider tonalite host unit.
The Two Mile Hill underground resource now stands at 20Mt at 2.0g/t gold for 1.3 million ounces.
Brightstar managing director Alex Rovira said the resource update represented a major milestone for the Sandstone project.
“The latest MRE update for Two Mile Hill-Shillington is truly a landmark moment for the Sandstone project,” Rovira said.
“The incorporation of this much wider zone has resulted in a doubling of the total resource since Brightstar commenced drilling there in April 2026, and has been achieved for a low discovery cost of $6 an ounce.”
Recent drilling results incorporated into the update include broad unconstrained intersections of 112.6m at 1.02g/t gold from 246.9m and 172.5m at 1.00g/t gold from 301.5m.
Brightstar said the updated resource does not include recent drilling targeting the Shirvington Zone at depth, where two diamond holes intersected 53 occurrences of visible gold.
Assays from that program remain pending.
The ongoing Shirvington drilling program is extending testing about 250m below the updated MRE, with further resource updates expected as results are incorporated.
The broader Sandstone gold project mineral resource has now increased to 79 million tonnes at 1.4g/t gold for 3.6 million ounces, including 1.5 million ounces of indicated resources.
Brightstar’s total group mineral resource has grown to 110Mt at 1.5g/t gold for 5.2 million ounces.
The company said the updated MRE will be incorporated into ongoing underground mining studies for Two Mile Hill and the upcoming Sandstone pre-feasibility study.
Further exploration is planned across the Sandstone project, with the company targeting new discoveries from regional prospects it considers analogous to Two Mile Hill.
